ACTIVITY ONE: THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR
Description:
After reading the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, I helped the children make caterpillars out of play dough, after they expressed an interest in caterpillars and other bugs.
Connection to ELECT:
Preschool Kindergarten, 3.7: Enjoying Literacy - The children were able to make a connection between the story and their play.
ACTIVITY TWO: POLICE BIKE
Description:
While using a riding toy, a child asked for me to help them in attaching stickers to the bike, so it would look more like a Police Motorcycle.
Connections to ELECT:
Preschool Kindergarten, 1.9: Interacting with Adults - The boy felt confident enough to ask me for help in creating his police bike.
Preschool Kindergarten, 4.3: Representation - Using dramatic play as a way to act out policing tasks.
Preschool Kindergarten, 5.2: Gross Motor; Riding - Driving the riding toy around the room in circles and in lines.
ACTIVITY THREE: PICTURE FRAMES
Description:
While at the creative table I noticed a child drawing pictures and then using stickers to try to frame them. I asked him what he was doing, he responded by saying he is making picture frames and asked if I wanted to help him.

ACTIVITY FOUR: FISHING
Description:
While at the water table, children said they were fishing when they were collecting items with nets and transferring them over to buckets. I responded by bringing them plastic fish toys to use in their play. The children were also counting and comparing the number of 'fish' they had to their friends.

ACTIVITY FIVE: PARENTING
Description:
While in the dramatic play centre, children expressed an interest in parenting the baby dolls that they found. I offered Children assistance in learning these tasks when they asked. I showed the children how to hold, feed and dress their Dolls.
